ELON, N.C. -- John McGillicuddy has experienced a few lonely times in the past few months.

He's used to having his twin brother Joe around. They grew up playing on the same team in northern Virginia.

They went to college together at Marshall and Louisburg. But now they’re apart: John is at High Point, Joe at Elon.

McGillicuddy had been diagnosed with testicular cancer. He had to go through three rounds of chemotherapy over a nine week period. After his final treatment in February, he was cancer-free.

The brothers recently met on the diamond but it was so much more than a game.

After the Elon victory, the entire team and coaching staff had their heads shaved to help raise money for the Vs. Cancer Foundation, led by cancer survivor Chase Jones.
