DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — One person was killed and another was injured in a vehicle accident on southbound I-85 near mile marker 91 Thursday evening, according to police.
Highway Patrol says Linda Brank, 53, of Lexington, was attempting to move from the center lane to the left lane and started to lose control. She reportedly over-corrected and went off the road on the right side and down an embankment, striking a tree and overturning.
Her son, Charles Brank, 31, of Lexington, was the front seat passenger and was killed by the impact of the accident.
Linda Brank was taken to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. Her condition is currently unknown.
Troopers believe the mini spare on one of the rear wheels of the car, combined with a speed of 65 to 70 mph, may have contributed to her losing control.
At this time no one is being charged in the accident.
