HIGH POINT, N.C. — Two people were transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center on Wednesday morning after a two-vehicle crash in High Point.

Crews responded to the intersection of Wallburg-High Point Rd. and Abbotts Creek Church Rd. around 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said the driver of a 2000 Honda passenger vehicle was headed east on Abbotts Creek Church Rd. towards Wallburg-High Point Rd. when it failed to yield and collided with a 2005 Dodge Caravan. The Dodge rolled over as a result of the impact.

The driver of the Honda, a 40-year-old woman from Cary, was transported to WFBMC. She is facing a charge of failure to yield right of way at a stop sign.

The driver of the Dodge, a 29-year-old woman, was also transported to WFBMC. She had a 4-year-old girl in the back of the car who was properly restrained.

The child only sustained a few scratches.

No other information was provided.

  • intersection needs help

that is a bad intersection. Wallburg-High Point Rd has the right of way but the folks on Abbotts Church Rd don’t like to stop at the stop sign on either side. I travel that road every day and every day everyone is trying to beat out the other.

I drive this every day and yes it is a bad crossing. It don’t matter what way you are coming from they seem to want to pull out in front of you and don’t really stop at the stop sign. I have almost go hit there and i drive below the speed limit there just so i don’t get hit.

  • Rick Yokeley

Needs to be a 4-way stop because of the curve approaching Abbotts Creek Church Rd. The way the NC Highway Department has worked in the past is vehicle counts and accidents. It’s a shame that someone has to get hurt or worse to remedy a problem.

  • Rick Yokeley

I would also suggest not showing the car all banged up until the story fully develops. Someone reading this incomplete article may recognize a car and this is how they are made aware of the accident. This is not responsible reporting and I suggest the pictures be taken down.

I agree 100%. Not a very compassionate thing to do. Make sure the names are released prior to publishing the pictures. This way people won’t assume it was their loved ones by the looks of the cars.

  • JD

In their defense, the cars don’t show any distinguishable markings, plates, or stickers. I know a dozen people with a red van or a black car.

    • Rick Yokeley

Perhaps you do; This intersection is not a thoroughfare, and I would wager that the injured people in this accident are local and live with 5 miles of the accident site. I find it very irresponsible reporting by FOX 8 to leave this posted as “Developing”… without a follow-up and for leaving the pics up. I’m very disappointed at FOX 8 News.

      • Cam

and i am sure fox 8 is deeply saddened that you are disappointed with them….lighten up- their job is to report the news (which they did) not make sure they don’t offend people (which it shouldn’t have to begin with)

    • sally

Cam, the problem was with them leaving the photos up all day and not giving any further information regarding who was involved. This could lead people who have loved ones with cars that look like these that drive in that area to believe that they could have been involved. This is why people were offended, not by the story itself but the photos.

Get over it, nobody died, you don’t know weather they notified the families or not and just because the names aren’t released doesn’t mean they haven’t. This is standard journalism and this is a free country. Who would be offended by such nonsense?

  • Dawn B

news is news….but if it is that dangerous then the people need to petition the city about maybe putting in a stop sign or even a stop has gone this long and no one has done anything except complain about it not being safe, well they need to do something about it

  • kathy haire

No no-one died but this is my fiancee’s niece and she is at Baptist Hospital and in bad shape. Please be considerate of this family. And yes this is a bad intersection that is not in the city-but in the country-and it does have a stop sign but the lady that hit them for whatever reason didnt stop. This young lafy that got hurt needs your prayers. And we thank God hurt little girl is going to be ok
