Rain moving across Piedmont, Freeze Warning for Wednesday morning

A powerful cold front is crossing the Piedmont this afternoon, bringing heavy rain and blustery winds. A Freeze Warning is in effect from 3 am to 9 am Wednesday morning.

Windy, wet conditions will accompany this front as it churns across the Triad between 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm. Rainfall totals for the past 12 hours have been between 3/4″ and 1-1/2″ and additional rain will add another 1/2″ to 1″ to our rain gauges.

Freeze WatchA Freeze Warning is in effect from 3 am to 9 am Wednesday morning. Once the front moves to our east, our skies will rapidly clear.

Unseasonably cold air will pour into North Carolina, causing temperatures to plummet through the night. Lows in the upper 20’s will threaten any tender plants, and gardeners are encouraged to cover their gardens overnight.

Mostly sunny skies are ahead for Wednesday and temperatures will rebound nicely, into the mid-50s by afternoon.
