Paul Walker was honored during Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards, but it was his good friend Vin Diesel who recently posted an emotional tribute video that was not included in the awards show telecast.
In a short acceptance speech Diesel recorded while on location filming the seventh Fast and Furious installment, the actor gave thanks for his and Walker’s Best On-screen Duo Award.
“Back in 2002, it was you, the MTV audience, that first acknowledged this brotherhood between Paul Walker and myself by honoring us with the best team on film,” Diesel says in the video. “So it’s surreal to be standing here 12 years later and that you have been so generous to give us this award again.”
“I know he’s here in spirit,” Diesel said as he fought back tears. “Thank you for honoring me and, more importantly, thank you for honoring that angel – my brother Paul Walker.”
Diesel, who has over 71 million likes on Facebook, posted the video on Monday night and it has been liked over 230,000 times as of 7:30 p.m. ET.
Walker died when the Porsche he was riding in struck a light pole in Santa Clarita, Calif. back in November.
