CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said a 3-year-old child died from a gunshot wound at a home in Charlotte on Sunday afternoon.

WBTV reported that police found the injured toddler after responding to the 700 block of Glasgow Road just before 1:30 p.m.

The child was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital, according to police. Officials said the identity of the victim is not being released until the family is notified.

Police said they do not suspect foul play, but have not released specific details surrounding the shooting. The investigation is in its early stages.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they are questioning family members who were inside the home at the time.
