ASHEBORO, N.C. — Employees at the North Carolina Zoo have announced a new addition to the zoo. On April 9, a baby baboon was born.

Both the mother and baby are on exhibit and doing well.

The N.C. Zoo is home to the largest troop of hamadryas baboons in the country. There are 20 hamadryas baboons at the zoo.

The gender of the baby baboon is unknown at this time.

Some other new additions at the zoo this year include an otter pup, three cougar kittens and a sitatunga.
