4 arrested, 1 sought for drug trafficking in Yadkin Co.

YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. — Police have arrested four people and are seeking a fifth in connection with drug trafficking from New Jersey to Yadkin County.

According to police, officers were investigating cocaine trafficking and conducted a vehicle stop on U.S. 421 to execute a search warrant.

During the investigation offices found that the suspects where bringing quantities of cocaine, marijuana and prescription medications into Yadkin County from New Jersey.

Kristin Ann Watson, 33, of Taylorsville, was charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine, two counts of conspiracy to traffic in cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a drug dwelling and possession of a controlled substance within a jail/prison premises.

Watson is confined in the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.

Darren Hugh Bell, 43, of Hamptonville, was charged with two counts of conspiracy to traffic in cocaine and resisting a public officer.

Bell was released on a $7,500 bond.

Steven Clifford Sullivan, 33, of Elkin, was charged with two counts of conspiracy to traffic in cocaine, two counts of trafficking in opium or heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, two counts possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule III controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine and resisting a public officer.

Sullivan is confined in the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.

Duane Eric Carpenter, 37, of Taylorsville, was charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine, two counts of conspiracy to traffic in cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a drug dwelling, possession of a controlled substance within a jail/prison premises, possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance and possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule IV controlled substance.

Carpenter is confined in the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $105,000 secured bond.

After the search of the vehicle the officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Sweet Clover Drive in Hamptonville.

Officers seized over three ounces of crack cocaine, 18 grams of clonazepam, 32 dosages of Suboxone, 21 grams of marijuana and 16 grams of hydrocodone.

Outstanding warrants have been issued for Robert Mitchell Johnson, 50, of Hamptonville, on charges of felony maintaining a drug dwelling and two counts of conspiracy to traffic in cocaine.

The investigation included a joint effort of investigators from the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office, the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and Highway Patrol.
