Veteran plans to ride horse from NC to Calif. for Marines
SURF CITY, N.C. – One veteran is taking the ride of his life for his fellow Marines.
After he returned from Iraq, Matt Littrell found comfort in his stable with his horse “Crow.”
Now, he’s determined to help others returning home from war struggling to find that same peace.
That’s why he plans to ride his horse from Surf City, N.C. to Camp Pendleton, Calif.
“What I’m calling the whole deal is the long trail home,” he said. “And it is: coming back, transitioning and rejoining society and getting right with yourself again. It’s a long, long, hard trail”
Littrell said he plans to begin his 26,000 mile journey on May 1.
