GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina mother is accused of leaving her 6-year-old daughter alone in a park to go shopping.

The Gaston Gazette reported that Wendy Martin Wilson, 37, of Gaston County, faces a charge of child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Police said the suspect’s child was found wandering the street alone on Saturday afternoon. A passerby reportedly called police.

Police said the child was left alone in the park for at least 25 minutes.

Wilson had been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor in February. Authorities said her child was in a four-wheeler accident after police repeatedly told her not to let him ride it.
