HPU students plant pink trees, flowers to honor cancer victims

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Students at High Point University honored breast cancer victims and survivors Saturday by opening a new walkway and planting pink trees and flowers.

Members of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority revealed the memorial earlier today on East Farris Avenue.

Group members said they were inspired to do the project after two members of their sorority were diagnosed with cancer.

High Point University student Alyssa Hunt said everyone in the community has been affected by cancer.

“Everyone can come and reflect and remember those affected by cancer,” she said of the memorial.

Group members said they plan to extend the memorial each year, adding more flowers and plants.
