Randolph County man critically injured in reported shooting

LIBERTY, N.C. – Randolph County deputies are investigating a shooting at a home in Liberty that left one man injured.

Deputies said they were dispatched to a home at 4515 NC Hwy 49 North in shortly after 11:30 p.m. Friday in reference to a shooting.

A 911 caller said David Christian White, 28, had been shot in his own driveway by a Larry Boyd Gardner, 44, and that Gardner fled the scene.

Deputies responded and White was flown to an area hospital where officials said he is currently in critical condition.

Gardner contacted 911 later and was apprehended at his home without incident, according to deputies.

Gardner was placed under a $10,000 secured bond by Magistrate Tony Julian at the Randolph County Jail.

Authorities said Gardner has since made bond and was released from custody. The investigation is currently ongoing.
