Couple arrested after child found eating crayons, rubber bands
CLOVER, S.C. – A Charlotte-area couple has been arrested after authorities said two young children were left alone at their home in disgusting conditions.
The Lake Wylie Pilot reported that Christopher Beard, 22, and Rachael Allen, 23, both of Clover, were arrested and charged in the incident.
Officials said the couple was arrested after a neighbor reported Wednesday afternoon that two small children were left home alone in horrid conditions.
York County deputies told WSOC that a 9-month-old baby was found in the hallway with a full diaper eating crayons and rubber bands.
Authorities who searched the home said they found empty beer and wine bottles, engine fluid, cleaning bottles and liquor bottles all over the house.
The suspects were both charged with unlawful conduct toward a child. They were placed in the York County Detention Center Friday under bonds of $10,000 each.
The couple’s children have since been reportedly placed with their grandmother.
