CLOVER, S.C. — A South Carolina teacher recently turned over $11,000 in cash to police after she found it on the side of the road, according to WSOC.

Sherry Whitesides and her 12-year-old son were on their way to a baseball game when they saw what looked like papers flying up from a bag that landed in the middle of the road. The vehicle that had lost the bag continued on.

Within hours after being turned in to police, the money was returned to the owner.

Back in class, many of her students asked her why she returned the money.

“Some of them said, ‘Man why didn’t you keep that money?’ So I tried to instill in them that it wasn’t the right thing to do to keep that money, and if was yours, you’d want somebody to give it back,” she said.

Whitesides said she was never tempted to keep the money.

“We love the Lord, and we want our boys to grow up loving the Lord and to do the right thing,” she said.
