NC babysitter accused of burning 2-year-old child
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – A North Carolina woman is accused of severely burning a 2-year-old child she was babysitting, according to the Independent Tribune.
Kaprisha Charnelle Bell, 22, of Kannapolis, was arrested Wednesday in Concord and faces charges of felony child abuse and inflicting serious bodily injury.
Police said they were called to Carolinas Medical Center-Kannapolis last Wednesday in response to a young girl with severe burns.
Officials said the child was later taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for further treatment.
Officers said the toddler sustained the burns at a home in the 1100 block of Northside Street in Kannapolis.
Authorities have not specifically said how the child was burned. The suspect was apparently babysitting her roommate’s child.
Bell was placed in the Cabarrus County Jail under a $5,000 bond and has court planned for April 24.
