Lexington man charged with multiple counts of statutory rape
DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Police have arrested a man and charged him with multiple counts of sexual assault violations.
On Sept. 7, 2013, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation in reference to a sexual assault.
It was reported to police that a 14-year-old female and an adult male had met in a public place and developed a relationship.
Through further investigation, Douglas Alberto Voigt, 28, of Lexington, was identified as the suspect.
Voigt was recently picked up in Tarrant County, Texas, and returned to Davidson County. He is facing five counts of statutory rape and five counts of indecent liberties with a child.
Voight was placed in the Davidson County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court May 19.
