Rider seriously injured in motorcycle accident in Davidson Co.

10157152_10151971114351175_662233763_nDAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Officials said all lanes of I-85 in Davidson County at mile marker 99 have reopened after a motorcycle accident shortly after noon Friday.

The accident happened on the northbound side of I-85.

Donald Lloyd Walsh, 40, of Acworth, Ga., sustained “serious” injuries, according to North Carolina Highway Patrol.

The specifics of his injuries were not disclosed.

AirCare responded to the scene, prompting officials to close both sides of the interstate for about an hour. Walsh was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Highway Patrol says Walsh struck an object in the road that caused him to lose control of the motorcycle.

Walsh’s estimated speed was 90 mph at the time of the accident. He was charged with reckless driving.
