High Point barber shop to close after 55 years in business

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- The College Village Barber Shop off Lexington Avenue in High Point will close its doors one final time this weekend after being in business for 55 years.

The shops's 70-year-old owner and sole barber, Steve Petroff, says his decision to retire is based on several factors including medical and financial reasons.

FOX8's Michael Spears learned that after five decades of business, some customers simply won't allow Petroff to completely hang up the ole' clippers for good.

I have known that barber shop since I was a child. Spent all of my growing up years at College Village. To see it close makes me very sad. Like the end of an era!!!
