Chrysler is recalling nearly 870, 000 SUVs for a brake defect, the company announced Wednesday.
Chrysler is recalling the vehicles so they can install a shield to protect brake boosters from water corrosion.
Jeep Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from 2011-2014 will be inspected. The boosters will be replaced where necessary.
Chrysler says the joints in the brake boosters can corrode, making the vehicle’s brakes hard to use.
The company began investigating after some customers said their brakes felt too firm when pressed down. They know of one accident, but no injuries, due to the defect.
Chrysler will notify owners of the recall, which involves 867,795 vehicles.
