Jewelry store employee charged after stealing $17k from store
YADKINVILLE, N.C. – A jewelry store employee has been charged after police say she stole over $17,000 in jewelry from the store in Yadkinville.
Police say Katherine Ellen Billings, 24, an employee of Six Diamond Jewelers in Yadkinville, stole over $17,000 in assorted jewelry, all without her employers consent.
Billings then received help from four other associates to distribute jewelry to pawnshops in the area for fast money.
Billings was charged with felonious larceny and two counts of felonious obtaining property under false pretense.
Billings is under a $15,000 unsecured bond. She will appear in court on April 2.
Sonya Marie Preston, 27, Jason Ray Crawford, 34, Kenneth Eugene Carter II, 18, all of Yadkinville, were arrested and charged with one count of felony possession of stolen property and one count felony obtaining property by false pretense.
Samantha Whitaker Fisher, 32, of Hamptonville was also arrested and charged with one count of felony possession of stolen property and one count felony obtaining property by false pretense.
Preston, Carter and Fisher’s bonds have been set at $5,000 unsecured.
Crawford’s bond is set at $40,000 secured.
