A low pressure system moving up the East Coast will bring winds to the Piedmont that could be as strong as 50 mph on Sunday in Surry and Wilkes Counties.
One to two inches of snow is possible across the mountains Sunday with wind gust as high as 65 mph.
Sunday afternoon highs in the Piedmont will be in the mid to upper 50s. A few showers are possible during the first half of the day followed by slowly clearing skies.
Winds will settle down Sunday night with Monday morning temperatures falling to near freezing. If anyone has tender plants outside, they may want to bring them in or cover them.
Monday will begin a streak of very nice weather with sunny skies Monday through Wednesday and highs in the low to upper 70s by Wednesday. Morning lows will be in the low to mid-40s.
Thursday will be partly cloudy with highs in the mid-70s. Morning lows on Thursday will be in the low 50s.
