MIAMI — Shane Battier said he will retire at the end of the season “barring an act of God.”
The 35-year-old announced Friday this season will likely be his final NBA campaign.
Yes. Shane Battier is retiring after season. No more equivocating. "It would take an act of God to change it & that act of God hasn't come."—

Battier has averaged 16 minutes a game in the past month.
Battier discussed retirement during an interview with USA TODAY before the season.
“I think I have one more year. My contract is up next year, and I’ll reassess where I am, but we’ll see.”
Battier worked as an analyst for ESPN last summer during the NBA Draft.
