WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A fire ripped through an apartment building in Winston-Salem Thursday morning, damaging all six units and displacing seven people.
Crews responded to the blaze around 8:08 a.m. at 2036 N. Cherry St.
Officials say the fire started in a first floor apartment, spread to the other units and even damaged the house next door.
All six units inside the building were severely damaged, three by the fire and three by smoke and water. Damages are estimated at $84,000.
No injuries have been reported.
Officials say seven people have been displaced. Red Cross responded to the scene.
Cherry Street reopened to traffic around noon.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
