Wreck involving two tractor trailers closes I-77 in Surry Co.

SURRY COUNTY, N.C. — A wreck involving two tractor trailers has shut down the Southbound lanes of  I-77 in Surry County early Wednesday morning.

The accident happened at mile marker 102, near a weigh station.

Officials say the driver of a FedEx truck ran into the back of a big rig hauling produce.

The driver was pinned in, but has been extricated and taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

The driver of the big rig was not injured.

HazMat was called to the scene due to a fuel spill.

There is no further information at this time.
