UNC campus put on alert after alleged assault
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) — The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was put on alert overnight after an assault was reported.
Officials sent out a campus-wide alert to students, faculty and staff after some type of assault was reported at Hill Hall, which houses the Department of Music, around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Hours later, an “all clear” alert was sent out after UNC’s Department of Public Safety had taken a man into custody, according to WTVD.
Details surrounding the incident have not been released, but it does have people on campus concerned after a recent situation earlier in the week.
On Sunday, UNC’s campus was put on lockdown after a knife-wielding man allegedly threatened some students.
Jesse Kister, who is a former student at the university, was taken into custody on several charges and is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.
