Suspect sought in Alamance Co. convenience store robbery

MEBANE, N.C. — Police responded to an armed robbery at an Alamance County convenience store Tuesday evening.

According to police, an armed suspect entered Sam’s Grocery and Grill, located at 5445 N.C. 119 North, shortly before 9 p.m.

The store clerk told police a man entered the store and produced a handgun while demanding money. The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of currency and fled the scene on foot.

The suspect was last seen traveling east on Corbett Road.

The clerk told police the suspect was a black male, 25 to 30 years old, 5’10” to 6′ tall, weighing 150 to 165 pounds, with a light skin tone. At the time of the incident he was wearing blue jeans with camouflage on the back side, a dark hooded sweatshirt, a camouflage bandana over his face and yellow and black gloves.

No injuries were reported.
