EAST MOLINE, Ill. (WQAD) — A toddler was hurt after razor blades were placed on playground equipment at Millennium Park in East Moline, Ill.

A police department spokesman said police found several razor blades glued to various pieces of equipment at the park just before 1 p.m. Monday, March 24.

Madden Jenks, 2, was on his dad Jayson Kenney’s shoulders during an outing at the park, pretending to be a big boy on the monkey bars, when he was hurt.

“He said, ‘Ouch.’ Jayson put him down. He started bleeding and we looked and they were everywhere. The razor blades were everywhere,” said Madden’s mom, Sally Jenks.

“Officers collected the razor blades and other evidence,” according to a statement from East Moline Police Captain John Reynolds.

The little boy’s cut bled a lot, but is healing well the day after. He says it felt like his finger was “cracked open” and it “hurt.”

Kenney called the plot disturbing and disgusting.

“It’s pretty sick. Psychotic. Luckily, it wasn’t deeper. He wasn’t old enough to put his weight on the monkey bars,” Kenney said. “What if he didn’t cut his hand and he slit his wrist?”

What is wrong with people? How sick and twisted do you have to be to even think to do something like this? I hope they find who did this and lock them up and throw away the keys. If it was my child they wouldnt need a cell just a box.

Too many hazards with playgroung equipment (burned legs, skinned knees, falls, bullying, lower-self esteem, gender confusion, and now razor blades). Maybe we need to ban them since they do so much physical and psychological harm to our children? And since this incident took place in Illinois, where they have no trouble banning other things (cough, cough), such a prohibition isn’t so remote a possibility.

And since more bars on the monkey bars obviously lead to more razor blades being glued on and higher incidences of injured children, we should ban all monkey bars with more than 5 bars. This would obviously make the playgrounds safer.

In all seriousness though, this is sick, it takes a deranged individual to do this. There is no place for a person like that in this world.

What kind of sick person does this? Their main target is children. Some truly sick people in this world.
Hope they catch them and toss them in jail. Can’t see the general population taking kindly to this.

Amen! That was done purposely to hurt children. I am sure the general population would take kindly to that. What sickos! If they can do this, how much further will they go? Killing next?
