SANFORD, N.C. (WTVD) — Three people were injured after a log truck overturned on U.S. 15/501 in Sanford Thursday afternoon.

It happened just before 4 p.m. at Deep River Road.

Trooper say a total of three vehicles were involved in the collision.

According to WTVD, police say the wreck happened when a van was trying to make a left turn into a gas station and the log truck swerved into the center lane to try to avoid hitting the van. The truck still hit the van, and overturned.

Logs tumbled out of the truck and struck a vehicle in the southbound lanes.

The driver of the van, 29-year-old Carlton Lee II, of Sanford, was airlifted to UNC-Hospitals with serious injuries.

The driver of the log truck, Stevie Cameron, was taken to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.

The driver of the southbound car also went to Central Carolina Hospital.

There is no word yet on the their conditions.
