Steve Smith surprises crying fan on GMA, gives him a Ravens jersey

The Carolina Panthers released Steve Smith last week, devastating fans across the Carolinas. However, no one was more upset than Gavin Simone.

Video of the 7-year-old’s reaction to his favorite player getting cut was posted to YouTube and instantly went viral. On Sunday, Smith took to Twitter to track down the fan.

On Thursday, Gavin appeared on Good Morning America with his father and sister. Then, Smith walked out and surprised Gavin with a “first-time only” edition of his jersey.

“Everybody was contacting me so I was like… I’ve got to meet him and got to hook him up with some new Ravens gear,” Smith said on GMA.

Smith said Gavin will also participate in the Steve Smith Football ProCamp in Charlotte in June.

Me too! Steve Smith is a truly class-act in a league that is filled with selfish, greedy trouble-makers. It makes me sick to my stomach that the Panthers couldn’t make room on their roster for a MAN who has done so much for his team, his community, and his fans. Love ya, #89!

Burn the jersey little man. Steve Smith or no…you can’t convert from the Panthers to the Ravens. It just can’t be done. j/k

And everyone thought Steve Smith was Bad … I feel like the kid did too!
I probably won’t pull for the Ravens but I may not for the Panthers either!
