Skeletal remains found in Hoke Co. identified, two charged with murder

HOKE COUNTY, N.C. — Skeletal remains found in Hoke County have been identified as a man who was missing for three years.

The remains were found by Fort Bragg soldiers on March 10 during a training exercise.

According to the Fayetteville Observer, the remains were identified as Fashaad Montez Lee.

He was 19 years old when he went missing over three years ago.

Two men face charges for first degree murder in Lee’s disappearance, Fayetteville Police said in a release.

Roderick Haikeem Wilkerson, 25, and Tyemirh Young, 27, both of Maxton, have been charged with first degree murder, kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

A police spokesman said at the time of Lee’s disappearance, he was trying to “get himself out of connections with gang members.”
