Ft. Bragg general Sinclair gets lesser sentence, avoids jail time

Brig. Gen. Jeffrey A. Sinclair

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (WTVD) — Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair was sentenced to a loss of pay, early retirement, and no prison Thursday for admitting to breaking military law during improper relationships with three subordinates.

According to WTVD, Sinclair will hand over $5,000 a month for four months.

The sentence was the lightest the general could have received.

In closing arguments, prosecutors argued that Sinclair should be thrown out of the Army and lose his military benefits, while the defense said that would have harmed his innocent wife and children the most.

Sinclair’s sentencing comes as the military and Congress grapple with sex crimes in the ranks.

The general admitted he mistreated a captain under his command during a three-year affair and had improper relationships with two other women.

He also pleaded guilty to adultery, a crime in the military, as well as using his government-issued credit card to pay for trips to see his mistress and other conduct unbecoming an officer.

The 51-year-old general had been accused of twice forcing the female captain to perform oral sex during the three-year affair, but the sexual assault charges were dropped as part of the plea deal.

Oh, Well, I see Military Justice is just as bad As the Inept Judicial System here in North Carolina, I bet those Victims will sue him personally in a Civil Suit & justifiably so plus I bet more women come out & accuse him of the same things soon….just can’t find justice no where these days….

Different spanks for different ranks! An enlisted guy would be in Leavenworth, but then again it would not have made the news either..

I AM AN ATTORNEY. I HAVE REPRESENTED MANY ENLISTED MEMBERS FOR THE SAME CHARGES. THEY ARE SENT TO PRISON WITH A DISHONORABLE OR BAD CONDUCT DISCHARGE. THIS IS A DISGRACE.
