‘Reelin’ for Research’ tournament raises money, fights for a cure

Six years ago, the Reelin' for Research fishing tournament started as a way to honor a father who died from cancer.

Now, the event has turned into such a huge success that a group from Greensboro has been able to raise $575,000 for pediatric cancer research.

The event is now in its sixth year.

Director Brian Cooke stopped by FOX8 to share the details.

The Reelin' for Research kick off party will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Cafe Pasta in Greensboro.

The tournament will be held Saturday, May 3, in Morehead City.
