WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Recent ice storms have kept insurance adjusters and tow truck drivers busy.
“It’s been twice to three times as busy as normal,” said David Grubbs, owner of Parkway Wrecker Service. “When the snow comes you can really get around, but the ice — you can’t get around much.”
Grubbs say last week’s ice storm resulted in around 300 calls for his drivers alone.
“[The] toughest part? Working on the side of the road,” said Josh Campbell, one of many drivers for Parkway who have to work in the ice, which can be dangerous along roadsides. “Nobody wants to slow down, nobody wants to pull over; they just keep going. It’s like we are never there.”
