Troy David Whisnant

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — The man accused of shooting and killing an officer last Wednesday shot himself in the head when confronted by officers, according to a preliminary autopsy.

Officers say Whisnant killed his father, stepmother, a U.S. Forest Service officer and his K-9 Wednesday.

Whisnant then shot himself when confronted. He died from his injuries.

It was determined that Whisnant was also hit by one of the officer’s rounds.

The funeral for U.S. Forest Service Officer Jason Crisp will be held at 2 p.m. Monday.

Its hard to find any silver lining to such a horrible crime, but at least the taxpayers aren’t going to be left paying for this scum-bag’s upkeep, Internet porn, crocked lawyers, and appeals (when he got the death penalty) for the next quarter century.

My thoughts exactly. I will say, Whisnant never should have been out on the street. He was charged with murder in 1996 and it was reduced to “voluntary manslaughter” in 1997. He should have still been in jail.
