The High Point Fire Department has new wheels to help firefighters respond to medical emergencies more quickly and efficiently at large city events.

High Point fire purchased eight new bikes with the help of an $18,000 grant from the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company.

The bikes are fitted with medical equipment like defibrillators.

Firefighters will be split into bike teams to cover large events within the city. It’s an idea first tested during last fall’s High Point Furniture Market.

HPFD says the bike teams will make its official debut at the Spring High Point Furniture Market.
