GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — As of 6:45 Tuesday evening, Duke Energy’s outage tracker showed 2,785 customers were still without power in Guilford County.
Southeast Guilford County was one of the areas hit hardest by the storm, so it’s a waiting game for residents who are still in the dark.
“This side of the street has power, behind us power, but we don’t have power. But [crews] are working as hard as they can,” said Debbie Elston, a resident on Radbrook Drive. “Fortunately we have a fish pond in the back, so we’re using that water for toilets.”
Duke Energy sent a 100-man team to the Piedmont from Florida Saturday to help restore power to customers. Crew members told FOX8 they hope to finish the job, and head back to Florida Wednesday night.
