Trees and more trees

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Alamance-Burlington Schools will be closed Tuesday due to downed power lines and fallen trees across the county.

The school system said classes were canceled because of issues with downed power lines, fallen trees still obstructing some roadways, and power lines hanging too low to drive underneath safely making travel too hazardous.

Schools will closed for students on traditional calendar and at A-B Middle College. Tuesday will be a workday for staff. All school sites currently have power.

Year-round schools will not be in session Tuesday.

In addition, the school system said due to the “extreme weather event and state of emergency situation,” students will not make up the last four missed school days (March 4, 7, 10 and 11). The March 4 makeup date would have been this past Saturday, March 8.

Information about how staff members will make up the days will be provided at schools and office locations this week.

The previously announced make-up days from missed days in January and February are still in effect.
