SALISBURY, N.C. – A student pilot and instructor were rushed to the hospital after a crash landing Saturday at the Rowan County Airport.

Investigators said the 1971 Piper Light was preparing to land when it went off course and crashed near a runway.

Authorities said the wreck forced officials to temporarily shut down the airport.

Officials said the people hurt in the crash suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
