A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Guilford, Forsyth, Alamance, Surry, Rockingham, Stokes, and Davidson counties as a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is moving across the Piedmont Thursday evening into Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, the Winter Storm Warning will last until noon on Friday.
The counties included in the Winter Storm Warning could see 1-2 inches of snow and sleet, followed by a quarter inch of ice.
Precipitation will transition to rain on Friday when the temperature rises above 32 degrees.
Hazardous travel conditions and power outages are possible tonight and Friday morning.
“Freezing rain should amount to near 1/4 inch in the Triad and near 1/10 inch south and east of the Triad cities,” FOX8 Chief Meteorologist Van Denton said. “This combined with strong winds overnight and tomorrow could lead to some power issues, especially over the north and west, including the Triad cities.”
