Southbound I-77 in Yadkin Co. has reopened after earlier crash

UPDATE: As of 3:55 p.m., I-77 in Yadkin County has reopened.

YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. — A portion of I-77 southbound in Yadkin County is closed temporarily following a vehicle accident involving hazardous materials.

Both southbound lanes are closed one mile south of Exit 82 (N.C. 67) and are expected to re-open by 7 p.m.

The vehicle accident happened shortly before noon today, near Jonesville. Crews are currently working to clear the accident scene.

Motorists traveling through the area are asked to use caution, expect delays and use the following detour:

  • Take Exit 82 (N.C. 67) to Valley Drive;
  • Turn left onto Valley Drive to U.S. 21 Business;
  • Turn left onto U.S. 21 Business and continue to re-access I-77 southbound at Exit 79.
