City of Greensboro moves ahead with plans for Performing Arts Center
GREENSBORO, N.C. — The City of Greensboro is moving ahead with plans for a performing arts center.
City Council voted 6-3 Tuesday night to approve a 50-year agreement detailing how the “Tanger Center for the Performing Arts” will be funded, according to the News and Record.
Under the agreement, the City would provide $30 million for the City’s share of the land, design and construction.
The money would come from hotel tax money, as well as parking and ticket fees.
Private donors would contribute $35 million toward the project.
Once the center is built, the City will cover annual operating costs and any shortfalls.
