WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The area of Polo Road between North Cherry Street and Indiana Avenue is the focus of several workshops that the City of Winston-Salem is holding this week.
They’re inviting people who live or work in the area to share their ideas on how to redevelop the neighborhood.
Right now, the area is a combination of homes, vacant buildings, a few small shops and a trailer park.
The city has partnered with The Center for Creative Economy, based in Winston-Salem, which has helped redevelop other towns such as Mayodan, Yanceyville and Elkin.
They are looking at the possibilities of adding everything from a fresh seafood shop, to a coffee house, to a skateboard park or a bowling alley.
If you would like to attend one of the meetings, they are being held Wednesday from 10 a.m. until noon and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at 515 Specialty Park Drive off of North Cherry Street. Friday, from 10 a.m. until noon, the design team will present its findings and sketches created from the community’s input.
