Wounded Warriors hit the NC slopes

The Wounded Warrior Project brought dozens of veterans and their families from all across North Carolina to the mountains for a weekend of fun on the slopes.

Veterans who were first-time skiers were given free lessons.

Mike Ford served in the U.S. Army for 30 years. He was injured during his tours in Afghanistan and Iraq.

"This is one of the coolest things that has happened in my military career, because I can be with people who know what I've been through... know what we've been through, and we sort of have that common bond," Ford said.
