A new Netflix scam involving a fake website is targeting customers by leading them to phony customer service representatives, according to the Huffington Post.
According to reports, users will arrive at a fake website that looks similar to the Netflix login page. Once a Netflix user has entered their username and password, a notification alerts them that their account has been suspended and gives them a customer service phone number.
The scammers recommend over the phone that users download a “Netflix support software” program, which then gives scammers complete access to the user’s computer.
Users are cautioned to always check to make sure the URL in the address bar is correct to protect against getting scammed.
