MINERAL SPRINGS, N.C. – A 67-year-old North Carolina man is accused of inappropriately touching a teenage girl he hired to walk his dog.

WSOC reported that Eric Earl Smith was arrested Thursday at his home in Mineral Springs on charged of indecent liberties with a child.

Detectives said Smith hired a 14-year-old girl to walk his dog, and then made sexual advances towards her.

Investigators said the teenager complained to her parents that Smith tried to kiss her and force her hand into his pants.

"He's 67 years old, got a lot of health issues, but he did things that you just can't do with any person, much less a 14-year-old," said Sheriff Eddie Cathey.

The suspect is out of jail on a $50,000 bond and will face a judge on April 1.

I was married to this man for 10 years and he is one of the nicest, kindest people you will ever meet. It infuriates me that the sheriff would take the word of a 14 yr old and repeat it in the media before he has ever had a trial. He has had Parkinsons disease for over 20 years and I do not believe for one minute that this is true. It is so easy in today’s society to tell a lie and ruin a man’s reputation for the rest of his life. How does the sheriff know what was said? Was he there? This is unprofessional to say the least. and beachmama1, if you don’t know this man, you have no right to pass judgement!

beachmama Is rite that’s her own opinions she can state what She wants. Freedom of speech. Any who you never know what That guy is like rite now.He probably changed to a whole different person. 14 year olds know alot. And they are the ones that snitches and cry. How do I know I know there reation been around them way too much. Child would never say anything if it’s around this age. He know he did it if he turned himself in and if they did finger prints on them. That is nasty. And people don’t like that. I would hurt somebody if they do that to my child and they came running to me. He deserves what he deserves.
