DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- A woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Davidson County on Friday morning.
Frances Lomax Rose, 78, of Thomasville died in the crash, the N.C. Highway Patrol in Lexington said.
Officials confirmed the accident happened around 9 a.m. at the intersection of East Holly Grove Road and Holly Grove Lutheran Church Road near I-85 in Davidson County (map).
According to officials, the woman's vehicle went off the side of the road, over corrected, causing the vehicle to go down a ditch, overturn and hit a tree. The roof of the vehicle struck the tree as the car was on its side.
Officials say speed was likely a factor in the accident and that she was possibly driving about 60 mph on Holly Grove Road.
According to the Highway Patrol, it's unknown at this time if weather also played a role in the accident. Officials did say it was raining at the time of the accident.
The westbound lane of East Holly Grove Road is currently blocked while crews clear the scene.
No other information is available at this time.

A lesson for ALL drivers, young and old: Over correcting kills! Regardless of your driving skill levels, there’s hardly ever a favorable outcome. I prayer that God will comfort the family as they grieve the loss of someone they loved.

Do they think it could be possible that she, maybe had a heart attack or something and lost control of her car. Usually older individual’s don’t speed, esp. in rain or bad weather. So sorry for the family and friend’s loss.Thinking of you all.
