Herbert Eugene Miller

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — A former Tennessee police officer has been sentenced to more than three years in jail for looking at child pornography in his patrol car.

WBIR reported that Herbert Eugene Miller was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Greenville.

Miller pleaded guilty in November to possession of child pornography and had faced up to 10 years in prison.

Miller was convicted of downloading more than 80 images of children to a laptop computer in a Greeneville police patrol car.

Authorities said another patrol officer found a questionable internet search history in one of the patrol cars and told his superiors.

Miller must also register as a sex offender and spend 10 years on supervised release after his prison sentence is finished.
