WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man has died Monday after being hit by two vehicles in Winston-Salem Sunday night.

The man, who police believe to have been in his ’40s, has not been identified.

Police say the collision happened on University Parkway in Winston-Salem around 6 p.m.

Daniel Barnard Mitchell, 81, of Rural Hall, was driving a Ford Thunderbird and Conner Donivan Mabe, 16, of Hillsville, Va. was driving a Subaru Forester northbound on University Parkway, when a person started walking across the road.

Both vehicles hit the man while he was walking.

He was pronounced dead on Monday at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

No charges have been filed, but police say speed doesn’t appear to be a factor.

The Winston-Salem Police Department requests that anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 336-727-2800.

Hmmm…who knows. I have seen people cross streets whenever and wherever they want. They assume all the cars can see them and they will stop for them. I have seen some cross and stare the driver right in the eyes like it is a dare. I guess this one did not make it. I feel sorry for the two people who hit him. They now have to live with it.
