Dusting of snow covers Piedmont, causes delays

This is an archived article and the information in the article may be outdated. Please look at the time stamp on the story to see when it was last updated.

A dusting of snow fell across the Piedmont Tuesday night, causing a Winter Weather advisory to go into effect until 9 a.m.

The advisory is due to the threat of ice still lingering on some roadways.

Most areas from the Triad saw the flurries and a few saw a dusting to around 1/2 inch.

Several schools made the call to operate on a two-hour delay or close completely.

Closings and Delays

We expect lows in the Piedmont down to the mid teens by this morning and then only recover to the upper 20s during the day with maximum sun.

This is a very cold air mass.

We expect the cold to hang around for at least the next week with most days in the 30s and 40s and nights in the teens and 20s through the period.
