SEATTLE, Wash. — Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman’s postgame rant following his team’s victory on Sunday is sparking widespread reaction, both good and bad.

“Don’t you open your mouth about the best. Or I’ll shut it real quick,” Sherman said in an interview with FOX sideline reporter Erin Andrews minutes after the win.

Sherman helped seal Seattle’s 23-17 NFC Championship Game victory by deflecting a pass intended for San Francisco 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree.

The Seahawks defeated the San Francisco 49ers 23-17 Sunday in the NFC Championship Game at Seattle to advance to Super Bowl XLVIII against the Denver Broncos.

The Super Bowl will be played February 2 in New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, site of the first outdoor cold-weather Super Bowl. Game time is 6:30 p.m. ET. It airs on FOX.

He is a disgrace to the team, I don’t care how good you are on the field if he actually graduated from college he should have enough education to carry on a conversation.

Panthers fan here so don’t care who won, but had the game been called correctly the outcome would have been different. 2 terrible calls sealed the deal for the seahawks. #1 the running into the kicker call. Roughing the kicker penalty was made to protect the kickers plant leg and this was clearly the case on that play. #2 The fumble at the goaline where the niner broke his leg. he clearly made the recovery of the fumble as his leg was being broke and the call was missed. once again not a niners fan but I feel the wrong team is going to the superbowl. As far as Shermans comments….. stupid is as stupid does. college graduate? yeah right!!

I’ll give you the running/roughing the kicker missed call but the niners got the ball on a fumble recovery the very next play after the blown fumble call so that one is moot point. I think the two best teams are playing for the Super Bowl.

I’m not a Seattle fan but Richard Sherman is the best corner in the league! To hold that title you have to be aggressive and confident. Those are characteristics nfl, college and high school coaches look for when they fill the position. Sherman doesn’t request interviews, hundreds of reporters line up to talk to this guy!

  • Robbie

he is a good corner. ill give him that, and I don’t disagree that reporters are lined up to talk to him. however, his actions are a disgrace to the team, the sport, and himself. these players need to realize that kids want to grow up and be these guys one day, and should act like role models. and john u were right… the very next play the niners did recover the fumble so ill give u that. still would have liked to see the outcome had the roughing the kicker had been called and kept the niners drive alive. may not have changed the outcome but at least we would have known for sure who the real nfc champ is. good game none the less.

Maybe Erin Andrews will think twice before she sticks a microphone in a players face immediately after a big win and decisive play. Especially when the two players involved in that play have obviously had serious ill-will about the game and it’s outcome. Some of these media people are about as lame as the one’s they are interviewing. If someone wasn’t shouting through their earphones what to ask, they would be totally lost.

^^In regards to the comments made by Robbie………..I am with you—-I think I know you too!! 2 great minds think alike ;)

Did not sound like a rant to me, it sounded like he was happy to win the game and told the world what he thought of his skills in football. I would have been excited to if it was the Panthers or if it was me in the game of inches

  • countryboy1

I loved it…but these comments…just because your a loud screaming big black man it does not make u a thug or a hood rat!!!! Just excited!!

Funny thing is that is a ‘Real’ interview unlike all the others you sheep hear daily….came with adrenaline and being pumped up for probably having the play of the year! All these other interviews are prepped and rehearsed….all of you sheep out there watch these reality shows and chat and rant about this and that, but this my sheep is true reality and how players are in the heat of the moment…I dont care what you may comment about my post, but this man is awesome and should open all of your ears and eyes to realize that was a ‘true’ television interview and how all players would be after making such a play. Not to mention Crabtree is a punk as well and as with any players throughout a game, they all talk trash and smack talk the entire game!
